Aftercare & Support

Bringing a Maine Coon home is the beginning of a wonderful journey and the settling-in period is just as important as the care that comes before. A little patience, reassurance and consistency will help your kitten feel safe, confident and truly at home.

The First Few Days at Home

It's normal for your kitten to feel a little unsure at first. New sights, sounds and smells can be overwhelming, so we recommend:

  • Starting your kitten in one quiet room.
  • Keeping routines calm and predictable.
  • Allowing them to explore at their own pace.

Some kittens settle in quickly, while others take a little longer - both are perfectly normal.

Feeding, Routine & Familiarity

Keeping food, litter and routines the same as they were before moving home helps reduce stress and supports healthy digestion. Once your kitten is settled, any changes can be introduced slowly and gently.

Familiar scents, cosy bedding and plenty of quiet rest time all help your Maine Coon feel secure.

Ongoing Guidance & Reassurance

Questions often arise after you've brought your kitten home - and that's completely normal. Whether it's feeding, behaviour, grooming or general care, support is always available. No question is too small when it comes to your cat's wellbeing.

Behaviour & Development

Maine Coons go through several developmental stages as they grow, and you may notice changes in energy levels, confidence or behaviour. Consistent boundaries, positive reinforcement and plenty of play help guide them into well-adjusted adults.

If something doesn't feel quite right, seeking advice early can prevent small concerns from becoming bigger issues.

Long-Term Support

Aftercare doesn't stop once your kitten has settled in. As your Maine Coon grows and matures, their needs may change and advice at different life stages can be invaluable. We encourage owners to stay in touch and reach out whenever guidance is needed.

A Lifetime Commitment

Owning a Maine Coon is a long-term commitment and having reliable support along the way makes all the difference. With the right care, understanding and advice, your Maine Coon will thrive and become a much-loved part of your family for many years to come!
